What to Expect at Lord of Life
Have questions about how we worship or what you'll experience on Sundays? Learn more here.
Walking through the doors of a new church be an awkward experience. We hope to take a few of those concerns away by addressing them right here.
Every church has its own style of worship. At Lord of Life, we try to make worship as guest-friendly as possible.
You'll receive a service folder as you walk into our sanctuary. This has all of the information you'll need to follow along with the service.
We'll sing. Both traditional and modern hymns - we love them all.
Many of our services are liturgical in style, meaning we follow the same outline each week, but the content changes based on the scripture and topics we're studying.
The service will be about an hour long, with a 15-20 minute sermon. The message is always rooted in the truth of the Bible, but it will also apply to your life, today.
Our worship services usually include the following parts:
- The Invocation - We call on the name of our Savior Lord as we praise him with a song.
- Confessing sins and Hearing Forgiveness - We confess that we have not always done what God asks. Then we are assured of full, free forgiveness because of what Jesus Christ has done for us.
- Bible Readings - We hear selections from God's Old Testament prophets, Jesus' apostles, and from Jesus himself in the Gospels.
- Sermon - Our pastor offers instruction and encouragement in a Bible-based sermon. We hear how we can expect God's guidance and grace for dealing with the problems of life, as well as the promise of eternal life in heaven through Jesus.
- Response to the Word - We respond with offerings, hymns, and prayers in thanks for the things God has promised to us and for strength to do what he has asked.
- Parting blessing - We hear one last assurance of God's care.
Mixed throughout these different parts of our service are hymns and short songs to praise God.
We love welcoming families to worship together! We don't expect little ones to sit perfectly still or be silent throughout the worship services. We want everyone to enjoy coming to church, so we offer activity bags geared for kids under 5 to play with during the service.
If your little one needs a break, you can bring your child to our playroom. The cry room is outfitted with a couch and changing table, and you'll still be able to see and hear the worship service.
No way! Time at church should be an enjoyable and uplifting experience. You won't be called out or recognized as a guest during worship.
We would like to get to know you, and may ask if you're comfortable filling out a Connection Card. Our goal isn't to add you to our membership roll or our email list. Our ultimate goal is to serve you well with the truth and hope we have in Jesus. Take your time as you get to know us.
That's okay! We don't expect you to and believe some of the best ways to learn more about the Bible is to participate in worship and Bible study within a welcoming community of others who want to learn more, too.
There is no dress code at Lord of Life. You'll see running shoes and heels, jeans and suits, t-shirts and ties. Come as you are!
We’re a Lutheran church, part of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod. But more important than our affiliation is our set of beliefs – you can find those here.
Can I talk to someone first?
